The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has recently won the award forsecuring the highest number of patents in the last five years amongst the educational institution or university It is
reported that the premier institute has filed 78 patent applications in the last five years. The award was instituted by the Confederation of Indian Industries in collaboration with the central department of industrial policy and promotion and the Indian Intellectual Property Office. In addition, Lalit Mahajan, an alumnus of IIT Madras, won the award for an individual securing the highest number of patents in the last five years.
