The Delhi High Court has directed the Ministry of commerce and industry to trace 44,000 missing files relating to registration of trademark and fix responsibility of the officials concerned. This direction of the court came while deciding the petition filed by Haldiram India Pvt Ltd who is the applicant for the trademark Haldiram Bhujiawala'. During the opposition process, the trademark registry was unable to produce the files for inspection as the file was missing in the department. Aggrieved by this, the petitioner moved the Delhi High Court. On an inquiry by the Court, it was found that around forty four thousand files were missing from the Mumbai office. Learning this fact, the Delhi court stated that this was alarming and directed the Ministry of commerce and industry to trace the said 44,000 missing files.
