Five major film studios have filed a suit against Hotfile Corporation for Copyright infringement in the federal court of Miami. Hotfile Corporation is a website that allows its subscribers to download from a library, movies and television shows. The five major studios who have filed the suit are Disney Enterprises Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp., Universal City Studios Productions LLP, Columbia Pictures Industries Inc. and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. The plaintiffs allege that Hotfile encourages people to download content illegally and sometimes pays people to upload copyrighted material and promote or disseminate links to a website where others can access it. The plaintiffs are seeking damages and injunction to shut down the service.
