Sony Ericsson sues Clearwire for trademark infringement

Sony Ericsson has filed a trademark infringement suit against Clearwire. The suit was filed on 14th January in District Court of Virginia. The lawsuit was filed on the basis that Clearwire’s sphere with swirl marks is very identical to Sony Ericsson’s model. Earlier too there was dispute amongst these two companies over the logo but that was resolved when Clearwire agreed to not use the swirl logo. The present complaint states that “while Sony Ericsson welcomes competition on the merits from Clearwire, Clearwire’s use of logos that are strikingly and confusingly similar to Sony Ericsson’s recognized, federally registered logos is illegal and should be enjoined.”
