The Traditional Surat Zari has been granted Geographical Indication registration. Surat Zari has been one of the oldest industries of Gujrath. The uniqueness of the production process of the Surat zari is the silver electroplating process. In this process, the zari is produced by using fine copper wires with shining quality. This art of zari making has been continuing for generations among the Rana community. The application was filed in 2009 by five Zari manufacturing industry owners. Statistics show that more than 1.50 lakh stakeholders are directly or indirectly earning their livelihood from this craft.
