Knowledge feast for Product/Process driven Companies

Intellecture, Brain League’s training division had organized a seminar on IP for Business Advantage and R&D Development on the 11th of November 2010 at IIT-M Research Park ,Chennai.

It was a day dedicated to the ingenuity and hard work of the research team of organizations.The occasion was graced by some of the best minds in the field of Intellectual Property. Also present at the event as a special guest was Mr. PH Kurian, the Controller general of patents and designs in India.

The underlying focus of the seminar was to provide organizations with an idea of gaining business advantage  through IP.

The event unfolded with an enlightening presentation on Intellectual Property and R&D strategies delivered by Prof. Anil Suraj, a visiting faculty member of IIM-B and an expert in IP . The session delved into issues like Value of IP in R&D, protecting outcome of R&D, IP policy and R&D strategy.

The first session was preceded by an  engrossing session on IP risks in product development delivered by Dr. Kalyan C Kankanala, an alumni of FPLC, USA and a well known expert in field of IP and Biotechnology. The session provided an in-depth understanding of IP risks in product/process development, risks involved for a company from others IP, avoiding IP risks, steps to be taken to prevent IP loss, Case examples.

The second session  was preceded by a stimulating  presentation on Recent Patent trends delivered by Mr. Nishant Kewalramani, an alumni of FPLC, USA and an expert in Indian and International Patent and Trademark Laws. This session provided an understanding of the significant changes in recent patent trends. It also touched upon case studies to explain certain decisions delivered by Courts in the recent past and their effect on Intellectual Property practice.

The seminar ended with a counseling session which provided the participants with an opportunity to discuss and clarify their queries with regard to Intellectual Property.
